Executive Summary

  • Of the respondents, 72 percent considered their interest level in social media to be high or somewhat interested, followed by 22 percent being slightly interested.
  • 77 percent of the respondents categorized themselves as either Joiners or Spectators of social media. The next category was Creator at 9 percent.
  • The most frequently used social media channels were YouTube, blogs, LinkedIn, Facebook, and discussion forums.
  • The open-ended topics for Question 4 resulted in a wide array of responses. Consistent themes included: when will B2B be ready to adopt social media, how can target audiences be reached through social media channels, how can social media efforts be measured to show effectiveness, how applicable is social media in technical and industrial market sectors, and how possible is it to keep up with all the social media channels.
