"Jersey Girl", Defined

Personal Blog:
Personal

Our new proofreader has taken to referring to me as “Jersey” in the office, and that is fine by me. And at most parties that I attend, there is always a Bon Jovi song played, with shouts of “Jersey, Jersey” and fingers pointing at me. Granted, I truly am a novelty with our wonderful friends, most of who are born and bred Ohioans, so my status as an East Coaster is distinctive.

Amy Chua’s new book, “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother,” was released in early January and immediately created intense debate among the mothers of the Western world. Chua started out her book with the intent of sharing how Chinese parents raise stereotypically successful kids, such as math whizzes, music prodigies and the like. One of my wonderful colleagues, Amber Hargett , recently shared with me that she broke up with Facebook. It had become too much of a time drain in her life, and I can understand that. It made me ask…are we all too obsessed with Facebook?

Trial, Error and B2B Marketing Research

About a year ago, we decided to embark on an ambitious journey – the pursuit of research about the B2B buyer.  Not the B2B marketer, or the B2B salesperson, or the B2B C-level individual. We wanted to know how the actual buyer of products or services in the B2B environment makes decisions. What do they think is a “considered purchase”? How do they consume information? Do they go online and why? How do they pick suppliers?
